Query byf41 on AA
At this url:
http://www.auctionarms.com/search/di...temnum=5495372 Looks attractive, number on bottom of magazine is bright. Does anyone know anything about this pistol? I'm interested in bidding if it is correct and matched, but don't have any experience with either AA or the Luger pistol to know what I'm doing. |
Hi David, the pistol looks nice. Some questions, always some questions. Since it has been cold blued, you would have to remove this cold blue and bring back the original wear pattern for it to be a collectable - tough to do!!!
Next, are all the internal parts marked with the last two digits of the serial number, as well as the external parts you can't see in the photos. Internal parts are trigger, grips (inside), hold open lever, breech block and firing pin. The inside surface of the trigger plate should be stamped with the number "26" You are correct to question the number on the magazine. It is difficult to tell if it has been restamped. It appears to be okay, but it's worth a closer look. Finally, is the letter on the frame a "Q" the same as the magazine? A legit byf 41 or 42 in this condition should bring $1200 to $1300. Be careful!! It's a jungle out there!! Goog Hunting |
There doesn't seem to be any wear marks at the rear of the gun where the toggle snaps back. I've noticed that when my Lugers are fired, they end up leaving two marks at that position.

Hm, for me the entire barrel looks like being reblued.
Anyway, nice to see a sister of mine which is 2884q. Juergen |
Frank, Hairy, JuergenG I extend my thanks for your responses. I know it takes time.
I guess bottom line is that I need to lean towards a situation where I can handle the pistol before I take the serious step of a purchase. There are just too many questions that are too difficult to address when one has only an auction description and its accompanying photos. Thank you again. I do enjoy this forum, I might add. |
David,
Luger Forum member, Peter Dunster, may still have this rig for sale : http://www.gunsamerica.com/guns/976429382.htm Regards, Pete... <img border="0" alt="[typing]" title="" src="graemlins/yltype.gif" /> |
