G Date matching mag

Just got this gun from a guy who purchased it from a vet in the 60's. If the links work, you will see what arrived today. Any comments are appreciated. !!

Orv has a great theory as to why the matching holster and extra mag became separated from the G date Luger. (6943d)

Two piles of guns, nice holsters and nice guns. The officer took his pick when he brought the gun back. The capture papers are unusual, but the gun is real nice.

Forgive the many links, but I think it is of interest.

Links include the capture papers..... and

The bill of sale for $40.00 to the elderly gentleman I purchased the gun from. ($40.00 USD !!!)

The pistol has 99% straw, blue is at 96%, his house protection gun....

Photo’s include:

Bill of sale from the vet.
Frame with grips off and straw.
The toggle pin with the matching number.
A loading tool with imperial/unit markings?? ... Jeff Noll any ideas???
Wrong holster for the gun but REALLY nice.
Another photo of the holster
Left side of the G date
Right side of the G date
Matching mag with correct markings
Additional clip with e/655 marking

I paid $1,200.00 for this G date........... A good deal??? YES !!!!! In right place at the right time........................

Don't know why these photo's did not post...

It is my G date top view and the capture papers.

Also, the left grip is V marked and the right grip is S marked no matching serial number.... is this correct? Everything else looks correct.

Hello Mark C,

I will defer to our Mauser experts to provide their evaluation of your newly acquired G-date...

Did want to say you take great digital photos !!!

Great Buy!

My gun/holster story is not a theory...it is what was told to me by at least 4 different WW-2 vets!

Most don't want to admit they just picked their stuff up off a pile of surrendered guns, but that is more real/typical than off the still warm body of the SS officer!

I love the first name of that Officer...In 73 years, I have never met a man with a first name of "Kitchen"!

Mark,
You did good! Slurp Slurp
I would not worry about the grips not being numbered. This is somewhat typical of Mauser lugers during that period.

Hi Mark, nice addition you have there. The photos of the papers were neat to see. One question for you. Maybe it is my eyes this morning or the angle of the photo or I am not thinking yet (I need more coffee ). Does this have the Mauser hump on it? Thanks.

Sid,

I am not a super expert on Lugers like most of you and I have seen the Mauser hump mentioned in previous posts, what do I need to look for? and what does it signify?

Mark

Bill Munis has convinced me, no G Dates I have ever seen had the hump! Some Ks had it and then it was reintroduced in mid 1937 and then all after had it. There MIGHT be a G date with one, but I doubt it. The G date at the top of the thread did NOT have the hump. It is a curved project at the rear of the frame to help hold in the rear axle pin during recoil at its most rearward movement. See the hump on the very rear of the frame http://members.rennlist.com/lugerman/Mauserhump.jpg

Thanks Thor, I had forgotten about the thread about the G dates. Thanks for the photo and the explanation. I am a little more awake now. Told you I needed more coffee.
