1917 DWM with 2 matching mags?

I purchased a 1917 DWM #4335 which had two matching numbered mags, tool, and a 1916 brown otto breitschuh Eisleben holster. After I got the gun, I noticed it had a safety sear and also the mags were numbered 1 and 2 at the bottom under the serial number. I looked at J. Still's book and I couldn't find anything about a 1917 police gun. Does anyone have any info about this pistol? I also noticed the 1917 is struck very lightly. The guns was sold on gunbroker but didn't meet reserve. I bought it for 1400. Here is a link:

Your 1917 DWM was routed to police service after WW I. The mags were numbered 1 and 2 by the police. Prussian state police orders to add the sear safety were dated in 1933. So the sear safety was added by the Nazi police.

Hi Jan,
Thanks for the reply. Its kinda strange reading the book and then talking to the author who wrote it. Must have been quite an experience digging up all that info. I can't imagine all the people you ran into throughout the whole process. Any opinion on whether or not I got a good deal? thanks
Edward
