1917 DWM with 2 matching mags?
I purchased a 1917 DWM #4335 which had two matching numbered mags, tool, and a 1916 brown otto breitschuh Eisleben holster. After I got the gun, I noticed it had a safety sear and also the mags were numbered 1 and 2 at the bottom under the serial number. I looked at J. Still's book and I couldn't find anything about a 1917 police gun. Does anyone have any info about this pistol? I also noticed the 1917 is struck very lightly. The guns was sold on gunbroker but didn't meet reserve. I bought it for 1400. Here is a link:

Your 1917 DWM was routed to police service after WW I. The mags were numbered 1 and 2 by the police. Prussian state police orders to add the sear safety were dated in 1933. So the sear safety was added by the Nazi police. Jan |
Hi Jan,
Thanks for the reply. Its kinda strange reading the book and then talking to the author who wrote it. Must have been quite an experience digging up all that info. I can't imagine all the people you ran into throughout the whole process. Any opinion on whether or not I got a good deal? thanks Edward |
