A Bulgarian Luger from 1942 ?

I have read in Jan Still's book that the next last produced byf Lugers were sent to Portugal. They were in the "m" block. And the very last went to Bulgaria. I have got a Luger s/n 1083n. It's numbermatching with 1083 + E/N twice + WaA135 on the barrel. I suppose the barrel is org. The barrel is also marked 9mm Para underneath. So what do I have ? A Bulgarian Luger ? I havn't found any photos of this type of Luger.

NP, It's true that some of the last produced 42BYF PO8 in the M & N suffix blocks did go to Portugal. Where is the E/135 on your barrel? If on the left side, if is probably the orig barrel. If on the bottom, it may be a later Mauser spare, replacement. If the 9 is in a circle, the barrel was replaced in Portugal. Some detailed photos would help. TH

The barrel on my P08 is marked: right side: a small E/N, top left side: WaA135. Underneath: 1083 and 9mm Para (no indication of barrel diameter). On the left side of the frame: German proofs from 1977.
I have read that the Portuguese Lugers had numbers from 153m to 5322m, and this here has number 1083n.

Hi,

It's also a good candidate for a very late 'commercial' piece (i.e. privately sold), since basically the last batch of lugers was rejected by the HWa and they thus ended up in several places, including Portugal. (just a matter of filling in small orders with leftovers :)

I'm curious who put the '9mm para' text on the barrel.

Please note that this has a full military proofing. On the right side of the receiver; E/N and twice WaA135. Byf (and not a banner) on top.
