Welcome Jan from CZ land...
thanks for the input. Did you happen to see the piece written by Ted in our FAQ link (On General Info page) on cleaning grips? Come back soon...

Re: Welcome Jan from CZ land...
Ted told me about that when I got my First Luger.....it REALLY works! Don't however be in a hurry. It does take time, but very well worth it! Don't be afraid to do it, It DOES come out great!

Jan, with your permission...
I'll add your tip to the FAQ.

Re: you
I'm sure that this is a dumb question but I'm going to ask it anyway. It's like when I read Ted Green's instructions about cleaning grips and I got to the part that said to coat them in a light coat of boiled linseed oil. I actually wondered if I had to buy linseed oil and then boil it! So, what in the heck is "tolen"?
|
Don't feel bad...
I was going to ask Milt Keller as he said it really works!
|
Re: you
Tolen is a solvent/thinner that can be purchased at most paint stores. You probably can get your Linseed oil there too, already boiled:)
|
Re: you
Thank you! I did find the already boiled linseed oil at the harware store and was quite relieved since Ted had not supplied a recipe with his otherwise succinct instructions.
|
Actually it's Toluene
a very highly flamable liquid hydrocarbon great for cleaning up stuff, but not entirely friendly to you or the environment.
|
Wear gloves, don't breathe it! (EOM)
|
I suspected as much...
thanks for clearing that up!
|
I knew that too, but didn't know how to spell it!!! (EOM)
