The Survivor, 1950 — René Magritte

I don't know enough about long guns that would have been around in 1950...

Is this image representative of a real life rifle, or is it from Magritte's imagination?

Looks like a pre-93 model Mauser rifle.

Looks to me like a Gewehr 88, or one of the variants, missing the bolt.

Looks to me like well done computer generated art (wish I could do stuff like that ). The shadow gives it away.

Ron, just grab a paintbrush and you're in business! Before AI, there were Magritte, Dali, and others. This is probably Magritte's best known work:

Sounds right. The missing bolt might explain the bloodstained butt stock, eh?

David,
At my age I am lucky if I can use a paint roller properly!
Ron

P.S. Magritte is a perfect example of thinking outside the box...hyper-imaginitive.
