value of Irish Luger

I seldom ask for a value on a collector gun, due to difficulties in assessing. But you never see these on the market to compare with. I need a value for insurance purposes, and due to poor health, may not be too long before I need to sell. Can any of you advanced collectors offer an opinion. I have one of the 28 Irish Lugers obtained by William Murray from the Irish govt. A P06 2nd issue. #331b. It is in good shape, listed in Norm's list, and I have lots of documentation, including an original typed letter notarized and signed by Bill Murry, that gives the whole story of his efforts to obtain. Best I can hope for is a consensus of value from "knowledgeable collectors", and perhaps a clue as to best place to sell, when the time comes. Thanks in advance, Cal

I'd say about $12,000 based on 2 sales this week:

Irish Rebellion 1906 style Navy luger (#2183a) at the RIA auction today (May 17). I think it sold for $14,000.

A 1917 dated Navy Luger 1088 is on Murphy's and it was in Bill Edwards collection

Thanks a bunch Mac Cat. I have not seen one of these listed in many years of watching. Of course, I am not always as diligent as I could be, but watch pretty close.

An Irish Luger
Is that a spud gun?

When in school, anyone with a family name "Murphy" was nicknamed Spud
An Irish association with potatoes I guess.
