Tired DWM Alphabet Commercial
 

First post, hi all.

I found this very "tired" DWM Alphabet Commercial the other day and got it up to snuff as a shooter. More of a $300 project than anything else.

All matching but the mag and I can't tell if it is due to the repair on the wood base. Looks like the base cracked and someone silver soldered a metal strip onto it.

The good thing is it was mechanically sound and the bore/crown was nice....I shot it this morning with no issues. Accurate at the 15 yards. I used Fiocchi fodder.

Serial: 2079p....Well I guess it's an p.

Any idea of the year it was produced?

Thanks, that's about where I thought it landed in the database.
I never owned a commercial Luger before so I thought I would ask to make sure.

It sure lived a rough life over 99 years....The stocks, if OEM (they are not numbered), are worn smooth in places but the fitment is superb.

Even after I brushed all the old oil/crud away on their backside and on the frame they are still tight as a tick.

LOL....At least it's been revived a bit for it's 100th birthday. ;)

DWM commercial magazines were never numbered (with four specific variation exceptions of commercial pistols acquired by the German army and navy). By the time the Alphabet Commercial pistols came around DWM reduced which parts were numbered, and this included he grip plates.

Cool survivor and I'm glad to see you are using it as a shooter. Some Lugers are meant to be enjoyed at the range.

I have one Frankenluger and I love to shoot it "like I hate it". :thumbup:
