1917 DWM with Crown/M
I looked at a rough DWM yesterday. Appeared to match inside and out except the barrel had been renumbered to match. Two crown/M proofs on the LS (anything significant?). The luger was about 75% and grips were likely period but had been whittled on near the mag release. Woman wanted about 1K and this included a decent 1937 dated brown nazi holster...no tool. Mag had wooden bottom but m/m. I passed...but wondering about the crown/M?

Bob, If this luger fit into the 1937 PO8 hoster, it's quite likely (or at least the double C/M marked receiver is) a 1917 Navy that has had its 6" barrel cut down to 4". This was a common practice during the Weimar, post WW1 period. Probably the Naval rear sight was also changed to a standard PO8 rear toggle. If all matching, this could be an interesting example of a Weimar rework, particularly if with grip strap markings. TH
