Artillery Tunic Info

I have some accessories to go with my BYF 41 P08. Including this WWII German Artillery Sgt. dress tunic. Could someone please tell me what this shoulder board denotes, ie the 23 and the #2 button? Please let me know. Thanks, Mark

Fairly certain "23" is the regiment and "2" would be the company. Will confirm when I get home.

Checked my book on German Shoulderboards, in the case of Artillery units the number on the button refers to the Battery. So, 23rd Artillery Regiment, 2nd Battery. Nice tunic!

Thanks gunnertwo for looking that up.
Perhaps you and your reference materials can do one more shoulder board. Or anyone else. An accessory for my 1940 Eagle L Police P08. A Polizei Summer Field Blouse with a cypher 7 on the shoulder board? |
I'll see what I can find, and, another nice tunic!

Both tunics are in such pristine condition Mark.
I have never considered adding uniforms to my collectable Luger's but I tell you what it definitely adds another level to a collection. Not a far step away from being there in ones imagination. Thanks so much Mark ... fantastic ! |
The rank on the police tunic is”Oberwachtmeister”, a senior NCO.
What is the city on the shoulder patch? It will help determine the number on the shoulderboard. G2 |

The City is Karlsruhe. Thanks for looking into this. Mark

This was a little more difficult than the Artillery tunic. There were so many changes to the police from when Hitler took power in 1933.
So, the rank has been identified as Oberwachtmeister (Senior NCO). I've attached a pic from the Bender book on the Police. That was the easy part. The number represents the 7th Detachment of the city police of Karlsruhe (guessing here). The other pic explains the number but the info dates from 1939. At that time there were only four districts listed. I'm thinking the number of districts increased as the war progressed. Karlsruhe shows a population of 145K in the early 1940's. G2 |
Thank you gunnertwo. I appreciate your efforts. Mark

My pleasure, learned new stuff.
