What would your ideal Luger be?

Lets assume for a moment that you were in a position to bring a newly manufactured Luger to market in a caliber other than the two original cartridges or 45ACP. What would it be?

My Luger would be chambered in .357 Sig, have a six inch barrel and fully adjustable rear sight.

Yours?

I like a 5 or 6 inch barrel - I'd say 30 carbine in a 6 or 8 inch barrel

Mine would be a 6” barrel navy style sight chambered for .30 tokarev or 5.7x28. Works well enough for open carry on varmints, turns into a handy carbine with stock/brace attachment.

A compact .32 acp version, but well built.

6 Inch barrel in .40 Smith & Wesson would be interesting. An 8 inch Artillery type in .40 Smith & Wesson with a stock would suit me as well. Then, once I think on it..a carbine in .40 Smith & Wesson would really be sweet with a 12 inch barrel.

I like Doubs" choice of the 357 SIG. It keeps that bottleneck/tapered chamber thing going. It would be an interesting challenge to make an adjustable rear sight that would tolerate the recoil. I would go for a 5" barrel with dished 1900 style toggles and offer an 18" barreled carbine.

I was thinking along the same lines, only in .380. My favorite cartridge.

My ideal luger would be a modern copy of the 1900 test luger in caliber 30 luger. Using old dimensions where possible and being reliable with no parts breakage.

I think I would have to go with a 1904 Navy in a 40 cal. I love the look of the long frame, grip safety and after 9mm, 40 cal. is I think my favorite for automatics. For a second choice I would have to go with Major Tom's choice of a 1900 modern copy but in 40 cal.

Silenced

This is something I would like to be able to have.
Question though.
Doesn,t the bore on the silencer,s end cup look awfully tight?

That part may be the rubber "wiper." I think the suppressors made that way use the first shot to size the hole.

Yep I thought along those lines, but those concentric circles look like lathe machining ... no?
the other argument against rubber, if it is- it seems to be held along the edge and could be blown away. I would think the rubber wipe (s) typically located inside, held in place between more permanent solid structures with a correct bore.

Thanks.
