I came across this moving picture of a German boy with early holster, gas mask and camo helmet~ Very Impressive! There is some kind of patch on his arm~He couldn't know that his life would be remembered a century later!

The patch is a machine gunner’s patch - a Maxim on a sled mount.

That's a cool pic. They did a great job with the colors on the helmet. The camo requirement order came in July 1918 so the image is sometime after the directive. The arm badge was awarded to those specially trained soldiers that achieved proficiency with the MG08.
