Barbara and I extend our sympathy to Ruth and the rest of the family.

Over the years we've spent much enjoyable time together in Nevada, Washington and here in Florida.

And, some of the most rewarding time of my life was in having the privilege to do some work on Joop's and his book.

He was one of the most knowledgeable people in our hobby. He will be missed. With his and Joop's passing , a lot of knowledge and experience has gone. Luckily, some of it has been memorialized in their great book.

May he rest in peace.

Don always treated me very well, helped on both books.

I am sad to see him go.

This one really hurts. If I ever had a question about Lugers, Don Hallock was only a phone call away. His knowledge of Lugers was amazing and he was always willing to share it. He is already missed.
RIP Don

Don Hallock - Friend, Mentor, Warrior

This is sad news for our Luger Collecting Community! Don was a major influence on many of us and kept our community informed of the sometimes little known yet tremendously important aspects of Luger collecting. A great friend and mentor to many of us! He was always willing to make himself available to discuss any topic about Lugers and created an excitement about Lugers that made you want to learn more! As Jerry Burney pointed out, he left behind a legacy for the Community through his book, the Mauser Parabellum. But those conversations will be missed!

Don was also part of the Warrior clan. Don was a USAF combat veteran of the Korean War who started his career as a B29 Turret Gunner. As a young E6 in theater, he volunteered for and was accepted to Flight School where he was trained as a B29 Pilot. He returned to the Korean Theater as a B29 Pilot being assigned to "the best crew he ever worked with." Unfortunately he could not get by his past - his crew's nickname for him was 'Sarge'. Indicative of the person that he was - always taking care of others! Another Warrior that will be missed!

Don Hallock was my friend, teacher, source of Luger information and fellow Luger collector. I feel his loss in many ways. He had a mountain of information about many subjects on instant recall. Don's last email to me was about flying and a Christmas card post marked 21 December 2020. David O.
