Info wanted on magazines

Seems like I read somewhere that there is a fellow with an extensive collection of magazines who will help out in matching up mags to pistols, through trade or sale. Anybody heard about this, or perhaps know who this guy is? Thanks!

His name is Don R. Halleck at drh@oz.net and he has lists of magazine data as well as generally useful informative related that might help place a correct magazine with a its correct pistol.

If a magazine that is correctly matched to a pistol that you own appears on his list, he will know who the owner was who reported that magazine and can provide you contact information. I don't believe that he has a way of knowing whether or not a magazine that may have been reported to him some time back is still with that same owner.

Last list published was #19 and I am waiting to learn when list #20 is released.

I obtained his entire packet of info and it was a delight to prowl through. I did not find a magazine matched to a byf 41 that my brother has (and I am working on getting it back :-)) but I enjoyed studying his material.

I hope this is small help.

Great help!
I just purchased a 42 code 1940 date with ser. no 5984. It came with 2 mags and a holster and tool. The mags match each other, but not the pistol. They are numbered 4276, and wfnmpt63. The tool is wfnmpt63. Holster is marked on back N. Burghard

Any clues about the holster? Its been dyed black. Thanks!!!

What is the letter suffix on your 42 code 1940 pistol?

I can look at the magazine list and see if a match is there.

I looked, quickly, and I don't see a 5984 magazine with any suffix letter, including none, for a 1940 - 42 pistol.

Thanks for tryin! How about the mags I have, or is there a way to tell if anyone needs those numbers?

I don't know if there is a list of "magazine wanted" by pistol serial number.

If you contact Don Halleck and buy the most recent magazine list, he will send to you blank pages that you can record your pistol and magazine data on and then mail to him.

I believe, when he gets 200 more magazines recorded, he then issues another list.

He keeps a record of who reports each magazine and it is hypothetically possible as a result that someone searching for a magazine that you have may be given you contact information.
