Info about Dimitri Tolchinski
I am looking at a couple of pistols offered by Dimitri Tolchinski. Most of his prices are about 15% higher than others offering similar quality guns but some are decidedly lower if the descriptions are accurate. The finishes appear to be too good to be true.
Any information concerning him as a dealer will be greatly appreciated. |
Be careful with some of the matching magazines.

Could a link please be added so other opinions can be offered? Thanks.

Here is the gun I was looking at. https://www.gunsinternational.com/gu...n_id=101166366
On a banner Mauser I asked for a clearer photo because it looked as if the "a" was polished out on the poor photo in the description. He sent me 3 more photos that were out of focus. It made me highly suspicious. |
I can't tell from the photos supplied if the striker number matches the pistol.

Numbering on the mag is not period to the piece.

Maybe it's just the horrible photo but I don't see the suffix letter on the magazine. If better photos are not forthcoming I'd give this one a miss.

I requested a clear photo of the trigger guard area. He sent me three more photos and they were more blurred than the first.
I wrote him that I thought he was avoiding sending me a good photo and he responded by saying he was sorry he couldn't do business with me. I found out what I wanted to know and perhaps you fellows can profit from my experience by being very careful with this seller. Thank you for the responses. |
Pictures are very important in a FS listing. The more the merrier as the saying goes. I can't say good things about his photos as several viewed are rather dark. That he is unwilling to send more images as well as good images does say everything about what he's selling. I did not look at his return policy but his lack of cooperation with a seller probably means many items are returned.

I took a chance from another seller on a Banner police that had "not very good" photos, and a vague description. The only gun I've ever sent back. He did make good on the return and the postage one way, so it wasn't an entirely bad experience. But a lesson learned. Anymore, bad photos, poor communication, or a sketchy description, and I just move on to the next gun, or save more pennies for something different.
