G-Date Waffenamt Marks
Hi Guys, I am asking all with G-Dates for a little assistance. First we know there were about 55,000 of these little jewels made. There are six combinations of waffenamt marks, the most of any other Third Reich Luger. I have been compiling lists, trying to establish the serial number range for each set of marks. These marks are:
B|90 and S-91 B|90 and S-92 W|154 and S-92 DE/211 and S-92 DE/63 and S-92 DE/63 and DE/63 I would appreciate any information on these pistols that provide me with the serial number, including the suffix and the waffenamt mark combination for that pistol. I will not record the name of the individual supplying the information, only the information. You can list the data here, send me a private email from the forum or email me directly at mrbguy@msn.com Thanks in advance for any help!! |

Hi Kid, thanks for the try, but if it's a G-Date, it has to have a suffix!! :(
I do appreciate your effort! |
Frank,
1131-d 211 S|92 When you compile the data I would like a copy too! Jim |
Frank,
I have an S/42 G s/n 5745e it has two D/63's and a mark I'm not sure of but saw it in "Luger" by John Walter, page 114 - the photo in the upper right hand corner shows the two D/63's and the other mark. Brent B. |
James and Brent, thanks much!!
Brent, the third stamp is a proof mark. This means the pistol was fired with over charged ammunition and successfully passed this over pressure test. On G-Dates this is identified as Proof Number 1, or sometimes as Fine Tailed Eagle. |
Here's mine:
70f DE63 DE63 Eagle 1504b W154 S92 Eagle |
Frank, As I am new to Lugers and the forum, I'm going to need a little help identifying my G date. Where do i find the suffix (and what does it mean?). Also need help with "Waffenamt Marks" where located on the gun? what possibilities are there? what do they mean????
|
Here is an example of where the suffix letter is found on the front of the frame below the serial number...
This example also shows the suffix on two matching magazines This serial number is 2360s http://forums.lugerforum.com/lfuploa...ample2360s.jpg |
Hugh, thanks a bunch!!
LugerLizzie, the serial number and suffix are as John described. The acceptance marks are located on the right side of the receiver, just behind the barrel. There are three stamps, the two to the rear are the acceptance marks and the one closest to the barrel is the proof mark. |
Frank, after inspection my G date is, ser.# 8846 b, W154, S92. by the way does anyone happen to have a sideplate with the # 46 on it? that is the only thing on my luger that looks bad (it's pretty well pitted).
|
Better to have a pitted original part, than a replacement. So, buy a replacement, and keep the orginal, :D
Ed |
LugerLizzie, thanks for taking the time to post your data!!
