Loading tool on EBAY
I tried to bid on a loading tool on ebay yesterday it was stamped on one side "s/42 G" and on the other side it appeared to be stamped with a serial #. I was way outbid. It finally sold for $102.50. I really wanted it to go with my "G" date luger but I guess I didn't want it that bad. My quetions are 1. do you think this was a legitimate "original" tool? 2. Do you think it was worth $102.50?.....

Hello LL,
There is a similar tool shown in Jan Still's book "TRL" on page 170...but that one has S/42 G, with a S/92 proof, and a luger serial number (or property number) all stamped on the same side... Regards, Pete... <img border="0" alt="[typing]" title="" src="graemlins/yltype.gif" /> |
other than to the owner of G date ser # 3753, Is $102.50 a fair or good price or did they go temporarily insane?
|
LugerLizzie, Probably insane to some extent. Luger tools bring pretty good money if someone thinks they are rare and will sort of fit into making a rig even though the serial is off it might appeal to someone with a G date because of the other markings. Luger items have been better than the stock market and rising steadily. Actually the price is not all that far off if you keep an eye on eBay. Your normal everyday 655 will usually bring fifty bucks easily enough. Keep looking and be patient. Jerry Burney
