U.S. Army DWM test trials luger

Gunbroker item #871385890
With 8 days to go, high bid is $5025.00.
Pistol looks like it was made yesterday, much too pretty to be a test gun IMHO.
What do you think?

Hand me down from grandpa could look this good............

I can't find any fault with that gun, but I'm somewhat wary of a gun that looks "too good". However, I guess it's possible for such a specimen to exist. Maybe this is "the one".

Wow, that is nice test eagle! Really nice BYF 42 Black Widow and 1943 P35 Browning out of that same collection.

Is that serial number, 6435, on "the list"?

It looks a bit too good to be true, but sometimes dreams do come true.

You experts might comment further.

I have have had 6435 on the list that I maintain for quite some time, but I have no further information on it.

I truly believe that there are almost mint Test Lugers - but 3/4 of them were carried for years, refurbished by the army, parts swapped - I think a lot of them are 'cleaned' up over the years.

I never grow tired of looking at nice examples. Thanks.

Does that price include the premiums and taxes?

Hugo Borchardt 07-08-2020 06:11 PM

That was the hammer price/final bid/sold for. It's been a while since I bought or sold on gunbroker, but "back in my day" they charged the seller a commission but had no buyer premium. I presume any applicable taxes would be charged to buyer when they checked out/paid, but not displayed in the "Sold for" amount. Similar to eBay. The final bid of $9802 was the price paid by buyer, plus applicable taxes but no buyer fee.
