Hey! I am new here and tried to find out what my luger actually is... I bought it on egun in germany and there were not much informations about it. Just wanted to buy it to make it a reblued nice looking shooter.
But i am curious what it exactly is. Some kind of Frankenstein or rebuildt with wrong pieces....?
It is a DWM with "i" suffix and without any date of production. The barrel isnt the original one. I think it was a 30 Luger which was converted to a 9mm barrell.
It has no crown stamps on the right side, just some proof marks from munich i guess from 1963 or so on the left side.
And it is numbered on all parts excepting the barrel.
I don't have that much pictures, because i sent it to rebluing.
More detailed pics i can send just after i get it back...

Welcome to LugerForum! Your thread title gave me a smile. :)

Looks like an honest Luger shooter, yes. In my area of the USA it would go for about $750-$800USD, with magazine.

What does it say on the bottom of the barrel???

I hope your re-bluer does not buff the snot out of it. Most do. :(

Better to leave it exactly as you bought it than reblue it. Most of us prefer honest wear to buffed smooth edges.

We have a FAQ document published. Just follow the link at the top of every page. There are a number of facts in that you'll find useful.

Welcome to the forum.

Nice LUGER to start from, I would leave it as it is!

Well. I already sent it to laser weld the deep rust areas and grinded every imperfection out. Wasn't really visible at the pics that i posted. And now it gets reblued and the right parts become straw yellow. As the pistol is nothing special or something for collectors i try to turn it into one that looks like new. It bothers me to have something full of rostholes and ugly details...
And i wanted to try how easy or hard it is to restore something like this.
I have to say that even laser welding leaves the added material harder than the rest. Makes it dificult to grind it down with a file and leave the proessed area invisible..
I will show you the result afterwards. I hope it gets well....

Thats what it looks like now. :)
The next days i will try how it shoots. The main spring or recoil spring is new (a harder and a bit longer one) to avoid ejecting and inserting problems. Always solved all this problems in the past at my long luger and the other short luger that i had before.

Your "new" Luger looks very nice indeed. I feel sure that you are proud of the end result. Hopefully, it will perform for you. Enjoy!!

Very nice job Bernhard
I would really be interested in seeing a quality photograph with proper lighting of your re-blued/restored project.
The lighting and heavy cast shadows don't do this gun justice.
