Ralph Shattuck

Ok, sorry about the â??name callingâ?. Itâ??s just that I spoken with Ralph earlier yesterday, and was once again reminded of what a great guy he is. If it werenâ??t for Ralph Shattuck, Luger collecting and the Luger community (including this forum) would not be what it is today. How many of your Luger books have his name referenced somewhere in them? How many other collector/dealers were interviewed on the Tales of the Gun episode? Who in the Luger community hasnâ??t heard of him? Get my pointâ??Ralph is an icon, and we all owe him a vote of thanks. I have done business with several other top drawer Luger people, but Ralph is in a class of his own. Do yourself a favor and buy a Luger from him in personâ??youâ??ll always smile whenever that memory pops into your head.

Doug, <img border="0" alt="[cheers]" title="" src="graemlins/beerchug.gif" />

He does have a charm about him, and in person he has always treated me with respect, and when my wife met him, he showed his collection to her, was very nice and made her feel very welcome.

Good Grief! I think we all agree he is a credit/asset to the Luger collecting community and one fine gentleman. Some of us just felt his method of marketing his wares was unusual and we wouldn't pay a fee for the opportunity to examine his 4 sale list. That was it, Enough said! AND yes I have purchased Lugers from him direct at Gun Shows.

rant, rant, rant,

We all agree, and I know that y'all would steer me clear of bad buys at shows, so rant, rant

Starting to get to you, Ed? Someone could always bring up the .45 Luger carbine,or something else
there there won't ever be agreement on. BTW, I got a DSA FAL STG 58, really been firing up the backwoods with it. Has a Springfield 1st Gen Combat 14X scope. Its kinda like dancing with fat woman, there's a lot to love and plenty to hang on to, just try not to get in front of her. I have to figure how to winch it up a climbing stand by deer season.

I agree with Lloyd - I mean it's a whole forkin' SIX DOLLARS!!!! Holy crap - and this Internet thing is free - isn't it??? I mean - it doesn't forkin' cost a forkin' penny... That's why you see all those SPONSOR banners on this site.

How dare you challange ANYONE TRYING TO COVER gawd-damned costs. I mean, ole' Ralphie's list is typed, copied, labeled, mailed - and manually put on the Internet... For crying out loud - I could call Simpson and spend an hour or two going through THEIR inventory - and dammit - would only cost me about $10 bucks in phone calls - each month.....

Jeez - I hope I never want to cover MY COSTS in running this site, huh? At $0.10 a post per month - I might ALMOST break even JUST for the software. Stuff the server and the connection. But, that's NOT the American way - as the forkin' Internet is "FREE"...

$6 for Ralph's list.. Yea - last time I chatted with him, he was on his forkin' yacht in Tahiti just off those the profits.

Gim'me a break.

My laugh for the day! I think the older I get the more I learn and the more I forget. Hey, what's this thing about Ralph? I have known Ralph since 1965. I think he was in Birmingham, MI at that time before he moved to AZ. He was dealing in lugers then and he is still dealing in lugers now. If you are looking for a luger just pick up the phone and call him. He can fix you up list or no list. If you don't like what you get you can send it back to him.

Thanks John D. for waking me up!!
