Check out Simpsons Ltd. alway a good indicator of worth, but way to much info is missing here to even come close to a guess. However it does not take to much for a Simson to go over the $2,000USD mark....keep us posted, is it a police model?

Policeluger,Thanks for the info, obviously not a run of the mill Luger!!......I have yet to see the gun,do not know if it is Police issue....if or when I do,I will take some pictures and post them....Cheers...Peter...

I sold one in January for $2200 and a friend sold one last month in Louisville for $2000. The latter in about 90% condition and mine in 85%. They are scarce and seem to demand a small premium compared to a common "black widow". Go figure.

Thanks George!!......from my experience, the "mystique" surrounding Nazi era guns is the reason for the premium on the war time weapons......

I had my reworked police model apprised by Ralph Shattuck last year for $2000...depending on who you listen to, there are from 100 to 300 police models accounted for.

A true 1925 dated Simson is a very rare variation with only approximately 24 known. I have serial number 378. I had another, serial 196 that had the police sear safety on it, but didn't feel it was correct.

I would say that the serial number of any correct 1925 should be below serial number 684.

Also, Simson's can have a couple of different combination of acceptance marks on the right receiver, but all the police have the same combination, or at least all the ones I have observed. Reworks are a totally different ball game. -- Bill

Acceptance marks on the police are E/6, E/81, E/67, E/67, Eagle. Another point of interest is all the Simson Police of new manufacture with a sear safety are in the "a" block, (blank toggle and S code). -- Bill
