FTF on 1915
I have a FTF on a 1915 (another) one
I assume the firing pin is broken?? Would replacing the firing pin change the value as it is an all matching pistol?? |
Yes, it will hurt the value if you replace a numbered part.
Should be easy to visually ID the pin and determine if it is broken. Save the original regardless of what you end up doing. Could be a failure to close completely, bad ammo or hard primers, or any number of other things. One time in how often? How do the primers on the fired cases look, vs. failure to fire, assuming that the primer is being struck at all. Will the FTF round fire if ran thru again, or in a diff. gun? dju |
no marks on the primers, none fired
|
So the pin isn't even hitting the primer? Post close-up photos of the firing pin.

Also, you are definitely using 9x19, 9mm Luger ammo, not .380?

the ammo was White Box Winchester.
|
White Box Winchester. .380? Or as the previous post asked, 9MM? Simply dismantle the pistol and inspect the firing pin. Do you hear a "click" when you attempt to fire the weapon?
You have to do your part to answer questions and investigate... |
Just to add to what Jerry said above, have cleaned and properly lubed the firearm? Is it cycling smoothly. What is your history with the Luger? Did it work for you or prior owner before? You need to provide more detailed info for us to help you.

the ammo was 9mm factory
pistol was bought from a good dealer will take it back this Saturday |
I was a little confused from the get go, two 1915 pistols!
FTF- usually means failure to feed. A failure to fire could be broken striker nose(which can be repaired-preserving the original number), weak striker spring, or grease in the striker bore of the bolt; or a faulty sear/trigger that is not releasing the striker. maybe your dealer can figure out which / what is the problem. |
pistol was bought from a good dealer will take it back this Saturday. While your there have him show you how to field strip a Luger. That seems to be your main difficulty from what I read here.

FTF- usually means failure to feed.
The problem with using abbreviations that can mean several things. FTF, failure to feed, fire, or possibly function. FTE, Failure to extract, or eject. Two different functions. I know most of the folks on here are pretty specific. Others...Not so much. It doesn't take much to hit a couple more keys and spell it out. Heck, I thought I was specific in my "WTB" post last night, and I already have a "random" offer that I wasn't looking for. |
Or face to face.

Or face to face.
Got me. I missed that one. |
I admit I am a new at Lugers
I don't want to screw them up for the next generation |
