1936 S/42 No waffenamt?

I have a 1936 S/42, all matching serial numbers, stick eagle on barrel. There are no other waffenamt markings on the right side. Why are there no markings? Does it make the luger less valuable/collectible? Has matching 1936 dated holster.

Thanks for help

You will have to post photos to get informed answers.

I apologize for misinformation, Luger is 1937 not 1936. Also has one matching magazine.

We can't see pictures on Shutterfly or many other photo web sites. You will want to upload them with a posting here.

How do I do that? I have them saved to desktop. Obviously, I don't know what I am doing. Dialog box asked for url which I dont have. How do I transfer them.

FAQ and stickies on the forum will help you with the process of uploading pictures.

Looking for information as to why there are no waffenamt other than stick eagle on barrel. Due to their absence is value/collectability less? Has one matching magazine and holster.

Thank you

Your pictures are very dark and I cannot lighten them enough to give an informed opinion. can you find a way to lighten them enough to reveal more detail.
Thx, Lyn

Better pictures for a better answer, but if there are no markings, then it is highly likely they were removed during refinishing.

If they are missing, it would be worth less, IMO.

Try a green or red background. White will darken the gun in the photos, as the camera adjusts for the white background. Closer would be better as well.

Hope these help to make determination. Why is this considered worthless?

I think it might be a replacement receiver, old army gun smith repair. Finish looks good to me.

Vlim:
Does this make firearm worthless as Don Voight indicates?
I am not looking to sell only determine value.

Dick,

Is the magazine that is shown in the gun what you refer to as one matching magazine?? If so, it is not original to the gun by any means as this particular type did not come into use until late 1940.

As you probably know, serial numbers repeated themselves, both number and suffix about every two years, so conceivably the magazine could have the same number as the gun.

But the magazine design evolved over the period 1930 to 1942 and in 1940 a completely new design came into use as the Haenel Patent magazines replaced the Mauser made magazines.

Please ignore this post if you were referring to a different magazine than the one pictured in the gun.

John

He did not say its worthless, but worth less, i.e. not as much as a proper WaA marked example.
