1941 Banner Police????
I've been offered this pistol as an all matching 1941 dated E/L Banner Police S/N 589Y. I haven't seen it myself yet but one of the photos I was sent doesn't look right to me as it has a crown/U proof and a what I think is a WW1 military acceptance mark. This is shown in the photo below. (The odd colour is an artefact of the photo). The vendor is an honest chap but doesn't know too much about Lugers. What do you think of these markings and are they inconsistent? Any help will be appreciated.
Cheers, John http://boards.rennlist.com/lfupload/oddmark.jpg I did some color and contrast adjustments to your photo and it is somewhat improved and shows a bit more detail, but I can only do the impossible :D not miracles... This is as good as I could get it...-John Sabato) http://boards.rennlist.com/lfupload/JohnFrework.jpg |
Those are East German proofs, so it is a rework. That doesn't make it a bad gun, just don't pay a premium price for it.

Considering what appears to be a "ton" of pitting, I would pass at any price. Unless of course, you might need a few very cheap parts. Good luck H |
