Merry Christmas 1914 DWM

Good Morning All,

First of all Merry Christmas!!!!!!!!!!!!

I swung into one of our local shops last week and lucked into this Consignment
( I must have been good this year )

1914 DWM
Best Part, to me, the Mag matches to the Pistol ( My First )
I tried getting a decent pic of it, the number and letter are worn but they do match

The Toggle Pin and Firing Pin are not serialized???
Is this normal for these or perhaps replaced?
All the other numbered Parts do Match

Overall she's in decent shape with honest wear, I can only hope to look this good at 105 years old

I've tried doing some research for info and value but finding it hard to find much on 1914's

Your thoughts, and opinions are appreciated

If you would like a specific or additional images let me know

Sorry i'm not a Photographer

That is indeed a lucky find! Well done! (and Merry Christmas back at you)

According to Jan Still's Imperial Lugers, approximately 35,000 were produced, reported observed serial range #97 to #3553c.

Very nice piece, congrats. and Merry Christmas back at you.

Thank You!

Production of 35,000 is pretty low so I would assume not many survivors out there.
Probably explains why i'm not finding much information on them and values.

As far as the Firing Pin and Toggle Pin, other Lugers I have seen both are Serialized.
I'm assuming they have been replaced.
I need to get back into it for a good cleaning, and when I do i'll get a better light and look for a number again.

As the Pistol was on Consignment and not owned by the Shop I could not Field Strip it before buying it. Although with the Matching Mag I probably still would have brought it home.

Thanks Again for the kind words

Hi Jose,
The firing pins of 1914 DWM's were numbered, the toggle pins were unnumbered.

Imperial toggle pins were never serialized.

Well Cool

Thanks for the additional info

i'll get a better look at the Firing Pin when I get back into it for a cleaning.

Well got her all cleaned up

Barrel has some frosting but the rifling is still strong

and yup the Firing Pin is not numbered

I tried looking around to see if this is the correct pin but not finding much on how to identify what I should be looking for

The Hold Open Spring was gone and a replacement has been ordered ( not thinking that i'll be shooting this one )

I'll be keeping an eye out for a "60" Numbered Pin
Any tips of where I should look I've checked Gunbroker, Ebay and a couple of the sights that come up from Google Searches

Thanks All!!!!!

Here's the Pin

Our lugerdoc is a good source, and just spreading the word here will help greatly.

George Anderson 01-05-2020 09:49 AM

I have a firing pin numbered 60 but it's an Erfurt.

Good-Day 01-05-2020 10:02 AM

Thanks Guys,

I sent Lugerdoc a PM asking if he could help

Is there a difference between the Erfurt and DWM Pins?

I have not had any luck finding information on how to distinguish them from each other

George Anderson 01-05-2020 10:29 AM

An Erfurt firing pin has both the serial number and an Erfurt acceptance stamp.

Congrats George! Sweet Luger

Good-Day 01-09-2020 08:43 PM

Thank You

I'm Pretty excited about it

"Almost" my first all matching, and an earlier production to boot

I've been poking around for a "60" Numbered Firing Pin while it wont fully be original it's still worth the hunt for me gives me something to do with my already limited spare time
