Can you ID this Navy Holster on eBay
The seller claims this is a 1916 Navy Holster, but I am skeptical. It looks to me like it might be commercial instead of military. Any experts out there that can verify?
Here is the sellers description: Brown leather Marine Luger holster. On the back are the following markings present : JOSEPH SCHWARTZ & CO, BERLIN N.30 , 1916. A bear silhouette is present ( Berlin )After research some friends told me that this holster should be the 1904 Model. Inside a Luger tool pouch in the flap is present. The tool is also there. 2 markings are present inside the flap : KM and U 783. Unknown what these mean. |
Sorry- forgot the picture- here it is (EOM)

Re: Not having very good luck at this...here is the picture!
John, The Naval holster pictured with the buckel style closure is the late WW1 type designed for use on belt rather than on a stock. The maker marks are probably legitimate, but the marks on the tool make me suspicious, both Kreigsmarine (usually a Weimar type eagle) and a U boat, come on? The holster should also be Marine accepted (usually a crown/M inside the flap) during the WW1 period.

Thanks Tom
I think I will pass on this one.
