Take down lever repair
 

I have a numbers matching Erfurt Luger and the disk has been missing from the take down lever since I got it. I have a replacement lever in it at this time and am wondering if there is anyone who could take the disk off of my replacement lever and weld it to my original one. Thanks in advance.

I had this done once, was $50, the 2nd time I wanted one fixed, he told me $100 - just to fix it.

I would imagine someone who is good at micro-welding can do it, but I am unsure who to recommend.

I think it would be easier to build up a new button with weld material and then reshape it, but either way it will be a challenge.

One of the micro-welding guys might be able to help. The welding aspect would be straightforward and not take much time. It's the prep and cleanup that pile up the time/money. For you-- or someone local to you-- to create ready-to-weld pieces to submit, then work the surfaces down to what's required when it returns would be the least expensive way to take this route.
Any technician or facility with the skills to accomplish even these before and after tasks wouldn't surprise me if they charge at least $60.hr for their time, so DIY would be the way to go if you can handle it yourself.

There is a guy here in town who has done numerous tig welding jobs for me. Look up ACCU-TIG.com. His name is Dan. He can possibly help you out.

This was a flaw with the original luger that the Swiss corrected with their M29 and continued by Mauser with their 1970s Parabellum, by making the checkered circle solid (not hollow inside). To avoid this problem, always make sure that the pistol is "out of battery" (toggle in the held open position) before attempting to open the TD lever. or if stuck, only push down on the non-checkered part.
