ERFURT double date

I'll post this thread also here, maybe I'll be luckier.
Last month while surfing the Net I found this double-date ERFURT bearing a letter "E" stamped near the double date, that's something I'd never seen before, I wonder if it has anything to do with the funny marked 1920, probably to my unexpert eye. I wonder if some of the real experts here could give me some enlightenment about it. |
Well, looking at this again, I'm not at all sure the "E" is an "E", maybe a "B".
Perhaps poorly struck on the curved surface to begin with, and then the loops lost due to polishing. Note how the center of the "8" has been lost. I don't suppose there is a picture of the receiver from the right side, kind of hard to look around the corner. ;) |
No unfortunately not, those are the two best shot.

I knew I'd seen one marked with "E" somewhere:
https://simpsonltd.com/erfurt-luger-...te-1920e-1914/ Pictures are not good of the marking, but it looks very similar to the one you noted. So there are at least two with the 1920 "E" property stamping. I tried to copy the pictures but cannot, they only copy as a web page. Maybe someone else with more computer skill can copy one. Still no Idea of the meaning. |
