Grips question

Why do some of the wood grips have what appears to be screw holes in the inside of them? Were Walnut, and Beech grips in mixed use after 1916? Were all Mauser Lugers grips numbered to the pistol?

Answers in order: Don't know. Yes. No.

So by your answer I must assume that the grips with screw holes are legit? Thanks Norm!

Norme 04-14-2019 01:44 PM

Do not assume. My answer to your first question was that I do not know.

Got it. Thanks.

Most probably the wood grips with a screw hole inside are Italian reproductions and they are generally very well made. They were made a few years ago but I do not know exactly when.

I agree with Ron,
all the grips I've seen with holes on the back were reproductions or replacements; I too believe they
were make in Italy.
For sure they are not original.
