Gold plated Death's Head SS Luger

You have got to see this - are the people bidding out of their mind?

I can maybe understand one person liking this thing, but there are multiple bids.

Someone needs to be banned from the buffing wheel.

Oooooooo.... Shiny....

What's the old saying, something like - "there is no accounting for taste" ?

At least no one is claiming it to be original, but I'm a little disgusted by the fact that someone created such a piece as a "Commemorative". One must wonder to what? :(

Ron Wood 03-09-2019 11:20 AM

Nothing like making a Nazi commemorative out of an Imperial era Luger to achieve "authentic" bling.

Vlim 03-09-2019 03:16 PM

Utterly tasteless. One to toss in the melting pot, or ship it to Russia so they can melt it into part of their staircase.

HerrKaiser 03-09-2019 03:48 PM

Screw it, it’s a glorified range piece at this point.

Edward Tinker 03-09-2019 05:48 PM

Don, shame on you, you bid and bought a Gold Plated luger! (ok, I was the one that got it, but it sold quickly)

$700 and a can of black spray paint and you'ld have a good gun for the "range".

The American Historical Foundation is well known for creating (ruining) any number of P.08s in this way. The others are generally just as fantastical, over-buffed, and gaudy as this one. Given what they do to the Parabellum, I find the "Historical" part of the name quite ironic.

I'll buy most any luger if it is cheap enough!

Anybody else think that barrel is too short for 9mm???

I've adjusted the image in my paint program and measured the barrel length at 3 3/4"...That's not 9mm...

Good eye, and clever measuring.
I suspect the description may be in error; every thing else is "wrong" about that one, so maybe the caliber is too!:D

Someone milled off the KI from this KISS luger...

Ha!
Even KISS was never as tasteless as that Luger...

kurusu 03-10-2019 11:47 AM

Don beat me to it! (I used a ruler and algebra and came up with 3 5/8")

DonVoigt 03-13-2019 09:13 AM

I have a take off 9mm 1920 commercial type barrel, C/n and serial number, that measures 3.75" approx.
So, there must be some.

Herr Luger is turning over in his grave! How UGLY! What a shame.

Others have said what I would have; simply awful bad taste.
