Gun prices
I have had a lot of other things take up my time and have not followed the gun market very close for the last two years. I did a quick scan and it seems prices have been going up in general. Are you guys finding this to be true also?

I find the gun market too large and of varied items to generalize.
AR types have fallen 50% or more; others no change, I see very few that have gone up. JMHO. |
The market has saturated with AR-15 parts manufacturers, builders and sellers. Every gunshow I attend for GRNC is always full of AR-15 rifles and components. It really has become "America's Rifle" and has to be the most popular long barrel modern sporting firearm.
I think some collectible firearms have moved slowly up in value over the past decade. The last two years have been more flat. The higher value collector firearms have seemed more stable, especially at auction. Mid priced collectors up slightly. Perhaps 10% in the past couple of years. The shooter grade Lugers seem to have done better percentage wise. Perhaps it's because there are still reasonably plentiful buyers at that level that don't care so much about finish or matching status. They also don't seem to care about refinish or RC / DDR markings as much. |
I think prices depend on whats popular at the moment. I paid just under a thousand form my AR. The same AR now will run around 700. The market is flooded with ARs. On the other hand, I bought a shooter Luger P08. I paid 900 for it. I thought it was a bit high, considering one of the numbered parts was broken and had to be replaced. But then again, I have always wanted a Luger and I am at the point in my life where I can afford one, so I eagerly paid 900 for the gun and was not disappointed.
