Taylors Half-Pint Sharps 44-40, with repro Malcolm 3X Civil War scope

That is a beautiful rifle! Very elegant as Sharps are. I have two Shiloh 1874 models, a rifle and carbine, both in 45-70. They are excellent.

With these new toys of yours, are you planning to go on a Buffalo hunt out west on a train ride? ;)
|
I live out West (Montana). Herd of Buffalo a mile from the house. Seriously just targets. Bill

First I've heard of these "half-pints" - pretty cool. Looks like they took a full size and washed it in hot water (and it shrunk)! I have a Shiloh in 40-65 and my barrel is almost as long as your whole rifle! BTW, are you near St Ignatius and the Moiese Bison Range or one of the other herds?
|
The Bison Range is about an hour North of here. I go there a couple times a year. There is a private herd about a mile from home. It has a 25.5" barrel and weighs 6 lbs. without the scope. Bill

I have a half-pint Sharps in .17 Hornet. It’s very well made and crazy accurate, but due to the small size my finger barely fits inside the trigger guard without touching the trigger. Is it the same with your .44-40, of it is a little closer to the full size?
|
Yes the triggers space is small. Especially the set trigger. The firing trigger seems ok. Nice little fun rifles.

Really nice Bill!
