Old ad, but whats interesting is how it states - 'Expertly Refinished'

So, I wonder how many times perfect are refinished or we correctly say refinished, but was done by their jobbers.....

DonVoigt 01-02-2019 03:26 PM

Well, it doesn't say "when" they were expertly refinished; so it could have been after import or before export- and if before then even 30 years before.

I expect they are exactly what we think they are today, refinished post factory- and pretty easy to tell they are not original.

JMHO.

What does JMHO mean?

It means "Just My Honest Opinion."
I also used to wonder about these letters and many others as well

Ron Wood 01-02-2019 04:58 PM

I usually consider it to mean "just my humble opinion", but that is just my humble opinion. :)

The ads I posted are from a roughly 10 year period, circa 1985 - 1995. Those were the days :-)

I think I still have five or six hundred rounds of that Finn 7,65P ammunition.

Kyrie 01-02-2019 06:45 PM

Let's go back to circa 1930.

Your first Hunter's Lodge ad is from around 1959, certainly prior to the 1968 GCA, when i purchase my first PO8 from them. As i recall, I also got an exc orig WW2 PO8 holster for $5 or $10 additional. TH

hayhugh 01-03-2019 11:31 AM

Back in 1956 I purchased a Luger thru the mail for @ $25/30 out of California. I had that, a Ruger (paid $40.00) and a S&W K22 ($67.00). Just something to pink around with. Never did much with them after I got married. About 15/20 years ago one of my nephews ask if I still had the Luger and I ask if he needed it. I exchanged it for a T-shirt he had. Forward up to about 10 years ago when I got into guns again. Now that I was serious about Lugers I ask nephew to take a serious look at my old luger. He said that he had sold it for $800.00 back when he needed the money. I ask him if he had ever done any research on it. He said that someone he knew had checked and said it was somewhat special in that all numbers matched including the magazine and where it had been made but other then that he did not remember that much. The Ruger I sold last year for $450.00 and the K22 for $1000.00. So goes life...……..

Sonofeugene 01-04-2019 05:05 PM

I wonder if my father saw an ad like those just before he bought his Luger. He bought it in 1948 while he was working and going to school in San Francisco. He paid 35 dollars to a Missouri dealer who threw in a box of ammo for it.

Yes, lots of folks remember Klein's; they sold the Carcano to LHO that he used to shoot JFK.

I'm surprised Klein's survived that episode, or maybe they did not- I don't believe they are still around.
