"Artillery" Grip ID
 

Grips supposed to be for an Artillery are stamped P on the inside. No numbers evident. Can anyone tell me if these are correct. If not, what Luger were they used on? Thanks.

I'm not the grip guy, but it seems like the P is probably irrelevant, like an inspector's mark? No special grips for the artillery models to the best of my knowledge. The vast majority of grips were numbered to the guns, excepting some of the very late P08's, so I'd guess that yours are replacements. But that is one of those rules that is rife with exceptions.

No, not correct.
Artillery grips look just like and are just like P 08 grips of the same vintage.

The "P" may be a workers mark.

The grips could have been used on any P 08 luger from 1910 to 1942; but may have been mfg. at any time in between.

Roadster, are your grips Walnut or Beech? The latter don't appear until 1917/18. Such Beech grips will often be unnumbered.

Would the 'Red 9' grips be associated more with 'artillery' Lugers rather than 'infantry' Lugers??? :confused:

1917 dated LP08s exclusively although I have seen one 1918 dated LP08 with "9" grips.

These appear to be the lighter color beech wood.

What's the date on your artillery?

They may well be original to the pistol.
