First Luger 1937 S/42
3 Attachment(s)
Just picked up my first p08. for $1100.00.
These are not the best pics the gun looks better in person and the straw parts look pretty good. All numbers match xx25 (except for mag and grips) So 3 questions: The person I bought it from said it was XX25g but I think the suffix looks like a q. 1. So is it a g or q? below are examples I found online compare to my image http://www.lugerforum.com/suffixes/s...s/page0002.htm http://www.lugerforum.com/suffixes/s...s/page0005.htm 3. Is it ever possible to find matching mags or grips or is that impossible? 2. For shooting is a 115gr umc acceptable? Thanks! |
* Definitely a "q" block. Mauser did not make 1937 dated P.08's in the "g" block to my knowledge.
* Finding the matching mag(s) is not impossible; but, is highly improbable. * Lugers can be ammunition sensitive. Try your 115 grain UMC. If you have trouble, many find Winc. White box ammo solves their woes. * Trust this helps. Bob |
Thanks helped a bunch. Being a q makes sense based on the research I did.
Based on the standard luger cat page 199 it seems to be an early finish 1937 serial # range 4501 p to 1500 t. I'll have to get more details and add to the 1937 1938 data request in this forum. Now begins my quest for 4725q mag Thanks |
Welcome to the forum and thanks for sharing pics of your "new" treasure. I really like the Mauser Lugers, and I would say you got yours at a good price. Bill
