is this a vintage WW1 stock?
 

Here's a stock online now, the owner says it's a WW1 military stock. To me the type style, etc., does not look right....is it some kind of vintage stock or what please? By the way, I would like a correct, decent stock for my 1917 DWM Artillery if any member has one to spare. Thank you! Joe

It appears to be one of the many surplus or unused stocks from WWI that were imported into the U.S. after the war. It is the correct type stock for an LP08.

If you're thinking of buying it, remember an LP.08 (Artillery) stock can ONLY be used on an LP.08. Putting it on a P.04 (Navy) or P.08 (Army) Luger creates a short barreled rifle that must be registered with the BATF.

It's not entirely correct for a 1917 Artillery. As George indicates it is likely a surplus stock. However it is not Military proofed with the Crown S or G. Too the serial number is not the standard number size or placement for an Imperial Artillery stock. Not bad if it's cheap enough and can accept it's oddities. Not good for my 1917 Artillery though. Good shooter stock. Just not purely a collectable stock.

Might be Finn with that style serial numbering.

Thank you all for your very helpful replies! Yes, I would only mount the stock on a LP08 pistol. I too was wondering maybe if the serial number could be Finnish-not that I've ever seen one-it just doesn't seem like some importer would bother to number these. I have two Finnish stocks for my Finnish Luger. They, too, have the larger numbers in several places...Bill

I also have a Finnish stock clearly marked on the wood with a SA within a cube. The stock also has a serial number in the wood groove where the pistol attachment fits.
