It Appears The Most Restored Commercial
I checked our the 1902 Fat Barrel Luger and over half were restored. Few nice original are even offered! The restored ones are almost too good!! The straw usually on the trigger is often omitted~ I'll post some samples~Eric http://www.checkpointcharlies.com/ec...arrel-9mm.html A nice restoration from dear old Charlie~

Buffed out 1/2 of the stamps on the barrel too. No haloes either. Makes one wonder how bad off the pistol was before the re-blue.

I've never seen an original fat barrel with halos or earlier 1900 test pieces! I own them both~
|
Even on minty original 1902 Fat Barrel Lugers the BUG barrel markings are frequently very lightly struck. Like Eric said, there are no halos.

The last two digits of the Serial Number~

The only blemish evident is the two lines above that I haven't seen on my other lugers! What could be the cause, please? Eric

Ron and Eric:
Why no halos? Numbers struck before bluing? dju |

You indicate that "shortly" after the beginning of the second navy contract, the change was made! Were any 1908 navy lack a halo before the change? Eric~
