Navy holster question
I have a 1937 navy marked luger and have been looking for a 1937 dated navy marked holster for it. I finally found one, but it got me wondering about the dated navy marked holsters. Still's book says the navy procured 200 lugers that year. Plus or minus the numbers, but let's say there were 200 navy marked lugers that year, does that mean there would only be 200 dated navy marked holsters also? I know some may have carried non navy marked holsters, or previous or later year marked holsters, but does anyone know about the number of holsters made for a small procurement? Were they matched up and sent with the pistols or were they special ordered after getting the weapon? Just curious how that may have been done.

I believe the Navy markings were added to the holsters after they showed up at the navy depot.
Thus most any date current or previous would have found its way to a 1937 dated luger; and could have been changed again anytime after that! I suppose there could be 1000 1937 navy marked holsters, being procured in '37 and used till they ran out! JMHO. |
KM Marked Holsters
Whilst I've not been fortunate to come across 1937 so far, I have collected 1938 KM holsters from two different manufacturers:

Wow, those are nice. I'll post pictures of my 1937 holster when it gets here next week. I have been looking a long time for that year to go with my 37 Navy.

Channel Isles,
super nice holsters- I guess the Germans left them behind when they left! Thanks for posting. |
