Looking to learn more about my gun. Does all the parts looks correct? All numbers do match. I don't know much about the stock and is it safe to shoot standard federal 9mm ammo? Thanks. What is this gun worth?

you have a 1914 Erfurt artillery luger. All parts except springs should bear the last two digits of serial number, and be proofed. I would not fire it, it would probably work fine with standard ammo, but it should be gone over by competent person first. If matching, risk of breaking an original part would seriously hurt value. It is a collectors item, and as such, holds a fair value. Better, and more detailed pics would be needed. Stock looks to be either surplus, or Persian? Is lug numbered? again more pics needed. From what I see, you have a pretty good pistol. John

I know a little about these guns but that's it. All the parts do have the correct numbers on it. Not sure what all the proof marks are. Wonder what the fair value of this thing is. I got it from a auction close to me. What pics would you like to see JTD. Im from Pa also. Lower Bucks County area. I would like to fire it once before cleaning and storing. I would like to clean it good and fire it a few times before putting away.

Dave, I am up around Wilkes-Barre, Luzerne county. Welcome to the forum. I think that stock is of later manufacture, Wood looks odd, as well as lug. Others watching this thread may be able to nail it down. I hate to offer value, as some will scream out a high retail value, and others will say it is to high/ low. 3K +/-? It has some pitting, blue loss issues that mat be exaggerated by photos. Erfurts are a bit hard to find, as they only made artilleries in 1914. Shoot it with only standard velocity ammo, no NATO, or performance stuff, to hot, and will cause damage to a collectible pistol. Winchester white box, Blazer brass, Federal should be fine. Break a matching part, and I can tell you shooter artileries go around 12 to 15 hundred. John

Please show front grip strap. Looks like stamps on back of rear sight blade? That is not normal.
