Nambu question
 

I put this up on another forum, butgetting no replies. This is a knowlegable group, so hoping some of you may help/advise. I have a guy who's dad brought back a march of 45 dated nambu, 2 matching mags, and canvas holster. It is in good shape, but I am not sure of value of these last ditch. Do they hold the value of early ones or less value because of their quality, or higher value because of their low production? Anyway, I guesstemate the value between $750-1250. Am I way off or in the range? Thanks for any help.

A T 14 with two matching mags and holster is sought after for sure, the late pistols- like your 20.3 are as or more desireable as the other dates.
There are fewer late mfg. pistols.

Pricing is always a gamble and a range, I'd go from $1000 to 1500 on yours for quick sale, and maybe more at auction.

There were only some 280k T 14s and only 71k T 94 pistols made; compare this to over 2 million lugers. One has to wonder "when" collectors will realize the scarcity of nice Nambu pistols.

Data point: I paid $650 for my '42 example. One non-matching mag (I since have found one!), and no holster. About 4 years ago.

What is the condition? Is it matching? Blueing percentage? Pics would help in making an opinion. I use my phone and then send them to my computer.

I have them sent to my phone from the guy, but they weren't too close. It is an old high school friend whose dad brought it back and he wants to sell it and two swords. I was trying to get a ball park figure for him so we could make a fair deal for him and me. He is sending pics of the swords later. The pistol comes with the bring back papers and the guys dad wrote in white ink his name and id number on the inside lid of the holster. I'll try to send the pics to my computer and then post what I have. It looked in really good shape, but it couldn't have had too much use being made in March. Thanks for the info so far.

Also, last ditch, especially if rough looking bring a premium. I would say add a bit to Dons amount, but be advised that he is a Japanese arms expert ;)

I think you got some sound advice whether it was good news or not.

I ended up getting this pistol plus the two samari type swords from the person. I thought I would post a few better pictures of this pistol. I don't think it has been fired. Both mags match, grips are numbered and match, internal firing pin matches, but extra one doesn't, it has bring back papers, and cleaning rod, and all the other numbers match. It is a pretty nice example even being late war made.

Nice rig; but you can be sure it was fired.
Extra pin should match too, if not it was used and replaced or maybe just lost and replaced.

A similar condition rig just sold for $1895 on GB.

I value “capture papers” when they’re with the gun. The vet connection adds a plus to the history of the gun. You can find info on the Fold3 site to get more info on the person. Nice rig!

I kind of knew the vet as I went to high school with the son who sold it to me on the 4th. I asked him to send me a history of the vets service area, etc. What is Fold3 site? I am not familiar with that.

FYI, don't store the gun in the holster.

Thanks for that. Even in our dry climate, I don't store guns in holsters, but good advice.

.BTW, I second Don Voigt's observations on Japanese pistols. (and until the market wakes up to this, then it's working for my acquiring!)

I'd be pleased to find that rig, very nice.

Are the swords military t-98 Gunto's? Pics?

One sword is a navy and signed tang and the other is the factory made metal handle type with matching numbers.
