Good, bad or?

Hi Hugh,
1906 Navy #6668a is a very well known gun and has been at auction three times since 2012. It's part of a complete matching rig that belonged originally to the late Doug Smith, a very well respected collector/dealer. It looks original to me too! Regards, Norm |

What the description doesn't make clear is that the stock and both matching mags are double matched - they have both the serial number and unit number of the pistol. |
Mike:
You say the unit number appears on the magazines? dju |
I know this is a question no one can answer, but why has it been up for auction 3 times since 2012?
just speculators? |

This particular Navy has been thoroughly discussed on the other Luger forum. |

2. Bought at a low price and resold at a different auction for a profit. Many auction buyers are dealers, buying stock for a store or bargain hunting for later resale. This one was part of the Doug Smith auction by Heritage. It was poorly advertised and poorly executed. Sadly, there were apparently no reserves. A number of his pistols went for very low prices, while a fair number didn't draw bids. I know a couple of other Navy collectors who picked up a bargain at that auction. |
