1906 AE Proofs

1906 American Eagle (4 3/4" barrel, .30 caliber) are found with Crown/N, Crown/B,U,G and (if I understand correctly) no proofs.

Is there any indication of the relative number of guns with each proof?

Dwight, An interesting question. Perhaps Ron Wood has some data available. Rather than how many of each made, I'd be interested to know if the proofs, or lack of them, is consistent to certain serial number ranges or if it depended on the market requirements of the where they were destine to go, like the later Mauser Parabellums. Hi Dwight,

The 1911 proof law introduced a simplified proof (only the Crown/N), so AE's delivered before 1911 would be the B/U/G proofed ones.

Dwight,

I sent you a private email but my 1906 AE has no proofs.

Steve
