Unit marking

The 'Built", better described by me, as a not completely matching Navy shooter, I received today from Hugh "THANK YOU" !! (pictures to follow soon) is what looks like originally to be a 1906 Navy 2nd issue. Need to check with Hugh about that. It is unit marked WW 6121 below the squeeze grip safety. What unit might this be? Though if I asked Hugh, for sure he know.

Also another big "THANK YOU" !!!! to Don for the Navy he built ( pictures to follow) for me that I also received today. 2 navies in one day! I'm dreaming. In any case these two forum members Hugh and Don show the character of the members of this forum.

Maybe I should have posted this in another forum thread.

Hi Bill,
W.W. Stands for Werft Wilhelmshaven, the dockyard at Wilhelmshaven, Imperial Germany’s home port for it’s North Sea fleet. The dockyard equipped the ships but there’s no way to tell to which ship your gun was allocated.

Thanks Norm. What would the '6121' stand for? Just a issue number?

Hi Bill,
#6121 is the weapon number but that wasn't all lugers, rifles and possibly other weapons were numbered too.

Bayonets and their scabbards were as well. Some SG1911's (cutlasses) have unit marks, but I've never seen one with a rack number.
