Unit markings
Hi
I am trying to identify unit markings on a 1913 Efrurt. They are 28.P.S.3. Stamped on the holster is 10/.TR(possibly B)17.16. Thanks in anticipation |
28 Pionier Batallion, Scheinwerfer Abteiling, Waffe 3.

Thanks, I am just researching it for the current owner. It has a far more interesting history, and was carried in WW2 as well. I'm trying to establish whether there are records to show any individual it was issued to, and would have remained in service through both conflicts or was more likely taken into WW2 by the person it was originally issued to.

Personally I know of no existing records that can trace the issue of a particular firearm back to a specific soldier. You may be able to track regimental movements thru the unit markings, but that is probably where it will end.

Thanks. The Pioneer Battalions seem to have got around a bit and would have been attached to various regiments. This particular gun ended up with a rather prominent WW2 Nazi figure and I'm trying to establish if it was one he carried in WW1. I'm an optimist.....
