I.D. magazine , please.
 

I recently picked up a Luger magazine , bit of an impulse buy. Have not decided whether to keep it or not... I would greatly appreciate any help and information as to the I.D. of type , age , etc. The finish is nickel , I think...? No markings of any kind that I could find. It functions well. The floor plate is a bit dinged up but sound.

Looks like a typical DWM commercial magazine.

Would you know the era of its origin?

Any time from 1900-1929 or so when they finally exhausted the DWM inventory after WW1

It's actually a post WWI commercial. Early commercials have flat "dimples" versus the half round on the mag shown.

I partially agree with George, based on the finish wear on the tube. Your finish appears to be tin plating (used 1916 and after, until Mauser took over PO8 production in the 1930s and switched to nickel. TH

It functions properly and looks good in my 1916 DWM , I paid $105 for it (reasonable , I think ..?) , all of which adds up to a "keeper.

It should fit any luger you may come to own! Thanks Guys! While on the subjest!~ Were they all made with the same wood when no metal!!

You did fine, nice mag. It's not advisable to use it for shooting, but will look great in any Luger.

But you may have a worse problem.

Since the mag goes with another variation to be strictly correct, you may realize that you not only have to keep looking for a military mag, but now you have to buy a post-war Commercial to go with this mag!
