Luger Differences DWM vs Erfurt
Where DWM and Erfurt parts interchangeable? Make, model, year, finish? At the very least interchangeable mags! Why were some Erfurts marked and DWM not? Did they had a luger repaired doctor of did an owner have salvage parts from a fallen hero? What single part was most vulnerable to failure? How come were they given those cute little brass cleaning kit? What kind of lubricant if any was given to the troops?

"I can at the very least tell you that Luger Magazines are supposed to be interchangeable across all makes, models, and variants...."
Then I wonder why "they" felt it necessary to number military and police magazines to the pistol? |
Like I said later on in the paragraph, they are supposed to be interchangeable and all will at least nominally fit into another luger. But that doesnt mean your luger will function properly with a non-matched/original magazine, somewhat similar to a body rejecting an organ transplant.

I'm guessing that when most P08 parts were originally manufactured, they were "interchangeable" with most other P08's. However the Luger, being a "fitted" pistol vs., for instance, a Glock, which is an "assembled" pistol, went thru extensive fitting on each part, was then numbered to that particular gun, and at that point may have become unsuited for use on another P08.

That right there looks like quite a bit of money and happiness on a table. My only Luger is an all matching commercial with un-numbered wood base magazine, which is original to that model of Luger. When I (very foolishly and luckily I did not have a part break) shot it, it had zero issues with feeding or firing, only issue was getting the holdopen to stay after I emptied the magazine (it would work fine when manually opening the action on an empty mag though).
