1900 AE opinions
I have a chance to buy this luger. He thinks itâ??s a 1906 AE. He rates condition at 90% and wants $1500. Unfortunately he did not give me the serial number and did not take very good pics. He claims it's 100% matching. From the last pics the blue looks good, but the sharp edges that normally would appear near the receiver ring look a little rounded?
Opinions? |
Hi Doug,
Because of the "dished" toggle knobs, this is a M1900 AE and not a M1906 AE. The photos may have bad glare and all, but it appears to be a refinished gun. The strawed parts look awfully glossy...especially the extractor... I would ask for better photos...especially of the "polished" area under the thumb safety lever (it should be white, well formed and slightly relief cut around the white shape), the stampings on the front of the frame, and the barrel markings. Ask the serial number and if "Germany" appears anywhere on the pistol. Regards, Pete... |
Grab it.

Ok, just spoke with the seller. Serial number is 13373 and he took it apart and all is matching. Bore is dark, but strong. He rated the finish at 90% due to some holster wear and the front strap turning plum. He assured me that the shineyness was due to oil and flash form the camera. Polished mark under safety is dull, but not blued so correct. Gun is marked Germany under the serial number. He seems pretty firm at $1500 (I offered $1250).
Anyone know where Anahuac, TX is? I am really thinking about buying it, but if I don't I'll let you all know where to get it.
quote:
Because of the "dished" toggle knobs, this is a M1900 AE and not a M1906 AE.

Pete, thanks, but I already knew it was mis identified. :D |
