Steyr M95 Left Hand

It has recently come to my attention that there have been several sporterized Steyr Mannlicher M95 carbines converted to left hand use. Evidently these rifles had the bolt handle welded on the other side of the bolt where the safety is.

Has any forum members ever seen such an example? I would be interested in any information, as I myself am wrong handed.

Chris, you're correct handed, the rest of the world just hasn't gotten with the program...

Every so often, I like to say something sinister like that!

I don't have one of the Steyr rifles, but also find left handed rifles including the AR conversions difficult to shoot after having adapted to right hand configuration rifles. After awhile you get used to brass flying across your face with the semi-auto rifles...

Brass flying across my face has never really bothered me, its just... I find the look and design of the older rifles better then the new and modern weapons of today. Older weapons were just more interesting. If a Steyr M95 can be converted to a lefty safely, I'd be a happy camper! So far the only thing I can't seem to figure out is if the safety can be ignored during bolt dissassembly.

There seems to be several people who have LH conversions, here's one -

Compare to an unaltered bolt. The safety has been removed completely.

I may just have to buy one of these rifles, and if I like it, get an extra bolt body and see who can do the conversion.
