Thanks guys for any help/suggestions. I have a, what I believe to be a WW2 mixed parts Luger. To begin, as stated this pistol is of mixed parts. It doesn't appear to have ever been fired nor does it appear to have ever been refinished. Everything about this pistol suggest original parts were used and in their original/new condition and with NO import marks that I can find. It has been suggested that perhaps it was assembled at the end of WW2 by some G.I. of new surplus parts?? I have no idea except to say that it is a very nice Luger. Suggestions as to???

Quite a bit depends on what markings are present on the pistol. Pictures are, as Norm says, essential.

If it looks like all Mauser parts but without acceptance markings it could well be a end-of-war "Cigarette gun" (so called because GIs paid for them with cartons of cigarettes)...

More likely packs of cigarettes in 1945/6.

true Geo - although my 1939 from my WWII friend said it was a carton of cigarettes ;)

Unless he was an officer, GI's didn't (and still don't) have enough loose cash for cartons. :p

IIRC, as late as 1970, a draft at the Enlisted Club was $.25, and I never had enough for more than two or three... :(

The only time I saw cigarettes was in a box of C-Rats... :D
