Correct Takedown Tool?
I realize many people don't think paying today's price for an original Luger takedown tool is worth it. And from a strictly utilitarian view, that's probably right. You can buy a repro for way less that works fine.
However, from a collector point of view, I would appreciate some advise on what tool is "correct" for my 1940 Mauser. My pistol is e/655 marked, but the SN places it at the point where magazines were changing. The proper magazine is a 122 code e/37. Were takedown tools issued from the same source, or at the same time as the magazines? Or were they made with the pistol? So if I have a choice between buying a e/655 marked tool or an e/37 marked takedown tool, which is more "correct" for my pistol? Thanks very much. |

Bob,
Thanks for the response. Let me check on one other option I have, and I will PM you a little later. |
Hi Glenn,
How is the pheasant hunting? I used to hunt out of Superior, NE every year back in the early 80s. Bob |
